03 December 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 01-0879
Page 2 of 3
The ends of the stainless steel sleeves were sealed with Teflon plastic sheets and end caps were taped
over the ends of each sample sleeve.The samples were properly labeled,placed in a chi lied container
and transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratory a State of California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory.
The soil samples were analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Method
8015 Modified;
• Volatile aromatic compounds - benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX)
and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) by EPA Method 8021.
RESULTS
TPH - d was detected in soil sample SS2 at a concentration of 4,100 mg/kg. The remaining soil
samples did not contain detectable concentrations of the target analytes.
Copies of the laboratory report (CTEL Project No: CT214-0110139) and chain-of-custody form are
included in Appendix A.
ADDITIONAL SOIL SAMPLING
Following excavation of an additional 19 cubic yards from the area where soil sample SS2 was
collected, two soil samples (SS13 and SS-14) were collected on 13 November 200lutilizing the
procedures described above. The soil samples were analyzed for;
• TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• BTEX and MTBE by EPA Method 8021.
None of the analytes were detected in the samples. Copies of the laboratory report (CTEL Project
No: CT214-0111069) and chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B.
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
