1
r11 March 2002
. AGE NC Project No 95-0143
' each well except for MW-9, from which 52 gallons of water were purged (approximately three
casing-water volumes) All purged water was stored in 55-gallon DOT-approved drums on-site Field
data and field logs are Included in Appendix A
1
32 COLLECTION OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Water samples were collected from each purged well using new, disposable bailers and, upon
retrieval,were transferred into 40-m1 EPA-approved VOA vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric
' acid as a sample preservative The samples were labeled and transported under chain-of-custody,In
a chilled container, to McCampbell Analytical, Inc (MAI), a DHS-certified laboratory, and were
analyzed for
' 0 Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA
Methods 5030/8015m,
' 0 Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020/602
' • Fuel oxygenates - di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE,
tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), tertiary butanol (TBA), ethanol and methanol in
' accordance with EPA Method 8260M
' 4.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation was calculated and flow direction was inferred from field data, the
' hydrocarbon impact to ground water was quantified from laboratory analysis
' 4 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT
The elevation of ground water in the twelve wells was calculated by subtracting the depth to water
' from the surveyed casing elevation (Table 1) Ground water elevations increased in the monitored
wells an average 102 feet between the November 2001 and February 2002 monitoring events
' Ground water was within the screened intervals of MW-17, MW-22, MW-23 and MW-24 and
Inferred to be within the screened interval of each vapor well Ground water ranged from 0 03 feet
to 6 92 feet above the screened interval 1n the other eight monitoring wells The approximate flow
' direction was toward the east-northeast with a gradient of 0 001 feet/feet at the subject property
Ground water elevation contours for the February 2002 monitoring event are illustrated in Figure 3
i
Advanced GeoEnvi ron mental,Inc
1
