Item No . 2
PC : 2-5-87
SA-87-13
Page 5
feet . The potential fire hazard has been a major concern
expressed by property owners in the area. See "Conditions, if
Approved. "
NUISANCES/HAZARDS :
The San Joaquin Local Health District recommends denial of the
project . They note the following:
1 . No rodent infestation was observed at the time of an inspec-
tion by Health District staff and State Department of Health
Services staff ; however , once established, an infestation
would be very difficult to manage .
2 . There is ample food supply adjacent to the storage area to
support a rodent population.
3 . The storage area provides ideal habitat .
4 . The area is being used as an illegal dump site.
Subsequently, the applicant has been advised by the Health
District to prepare a pest control plan.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS :
Summary of Initial Study:
An Initial Study of the proposed grapevine storage yard was
prepared on October 21 , 1986, and it was found that the project
would not have a significant impact on the environment .
Although locational and nuisance problems are at issue, the
site design and landscaping, along with agreed-upon site
cleanup, will reduce potential environmental impacts to a level
of nonsignificance . Based on that study, a Negative
Declaration was prepared.
