The identification of this impact as a "significant
unmitigable" impact in Section 2 of the FEIR is incorrect .
• The FEIR identifies this as a significant unmitigable
effect on page 2-23 [Impact 4 . 6-61 but does not
identify it as "significant unmitigable" in the
summary of such impacts in Section 6 . 4 (page 6-22) .
In fact , the staff does not consider this impact to
be significant after mitigation, and the County has
never identified seismic impacts in the County as not
being capable of mitigation to insignificance for a
properly constructed structure.
Statement of Fact : The impact will be mitigated by the
following :
• Project residents and workers must be made aware of
the seismic hazards associated with the area and
informed of ways to reduce these hazards . The
Applicant should develop and implement a community
earthquake preparedness plan, to assist in the goal
of community education.
• Although the risk cannot be fully mitigated, it is
similar to or less than that experienced in most
nearby areas , including the Bay Area.
O.
