27 August 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 12-2181
2.2.1. Piping
A removable '/2- inch diameter rubber hose [22CCR §66265.192(k)(2)(C&D)] attached to
a pipe assembly is utilized to transport fluid to the AST from the shop. The pipes are
attached to the tank for ease of avoiding spills when the pneumatic system is running and
are therefore not considered more than a transport mechanism from the shop.
2.2.2. AST Evacuation or Transport Pump
An AST evacuation or transport pump [22CCR§66265.192(k)(2)(C&D)] is not attached to
the AST. Waste oil is transported from the shop to the AST for temporary storage until
waste disposal collection and disposal activities are conducted. Facility approved waste
transport technicians remove waste oil utilizing vacuum truck mounted hose and pump
equipment for draining the AST.
2.3. STORAGE
Vehicle waste oil [22CCR§66265.192(k)(8)] is stored within the AST. Waste oil specific
gravity is approximated at 0.054 pounds per foot cubed(Ib/fe).The AST operating capacity
is 550 gallons.
2.4. VISUAL INSPECTION
A visual inspection [22CCR§66265.192(k)(9)] of the tank and its affiliated pumps, piping,
ancillary equipment, interior surface and exterior surface, if present at the time of the
inspection, did not reveal signs of leaks, corrosion, weld cracks, breaks or scrapes in
coating which may cause a release from the tank system. There were no discrepancies
noted at the time of the AST visual inspection. Figure 3 provides profile and side AST
views. A visual assessment summary is included as Table 3.
3.0. SECONDARY CONTAINMENT
The waste tank is double walled and has sufficient secondary annular shell space for
containment of a spill from the primary annular space. The AST profile and side views are
shown on Figure 3.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
