AR TIME
III. GENERAL SOURCE REDUCTION - ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROLS
The administrative controls used at Facility Services to promote hazardous
waste reduction are described below. This information is included within the
general information section because such controls are employed independent of
the type of waste produced.
A. HAZARDOUS WASTE REDUCTION COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The Hazardous Waste Reduction Committee is composed of the Manager
of Scheduled Maintenance and a Manager/Supervisor of each of the
following departments: Custodial and,Grounds, Paint Operations, Building
Division, and Mechanical Division. Meetings are held once a quarter. The
intent of the meetings is to discuss the feasibility and effectiveness of
current source reduction measures and waste minimization practices
within each of the departments. The committee will be responsible for
incorporating new source reduction measures and then evaluating their
effectiveness and feasibility.
Individual departments hold safety meetings every Friday. The safety
meetings enable employees to submit suggestions in regard to their work
environment, safety issues, hazardous waste reduction, etc. The
information and suggestions from the safety meetings will be gathered
and incorporated into discussions with the Hazardous Waste Reduction
Committee.
B. INVENTORY CONTROL
Inventory control will limit the number and amount of products purchased,
such as the purchase of paint on an as needed basis. Purchases should be
monitored by the Manager/Supervisor for each department. Managers and
Supervisors will be responsible for monitoring existing inventories prior to
ordering new materials Facility Services will eliminate the storage of
products no longer in use to prevent the generation of a possible
hazardous waste.
Stockton Unified School District NETWORK ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS,INc.
Hazardous Waste Source Reduction Plan 7
