Stay upwind of fire. <br /> N't—tif-v emergency coordinator. <br /> Personal Protective Equipment <br /> Workers responding to a fire at the hazardous waste stroage <br /> facility must have the following protective clothing and <br /> equipment: <br /> 0 Respirator mask with dust cannister, as a minimum <br /> 0 Rubber gloves <br /> 0 Rubber boots <br /> 0 Protective overalls (Tyvec) or neoprene apron <br /> 0 Barrier creams or oils will reduce skin irritation <br /> 0 Goggles or face shield (if not part of mask) <br /> NOTE: Selfcontained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is <br /> required for entering a smoke-filled area. <br /> No workers should attempt to fight a chemical/fuel fire with <br /> the minimum level of protection. The mimimum, fire fighting <br /> team should consist of five appropriately trained individu- <br /> als, 4ach properly protected from hazardous material expo- <br /> sure. Two team members should serve as the primary attack <br /> party, two as backup and support personnel, and the fifth <br /> should be devoted to maintaining communications, directing <br /> others away from the fire, and standby. as a reserve ih case <br /> of emergency conditions. More personnel may be directed to <br /> assist the core team by the fire department team leader or <br /> Emergency Coordinator. <br /> Fire Suppression Ap2aratus: .. <br /> Emergency crews responding to fires at the hazardous waste <br /> storage facility should have the following: types of equip- <br /> ment available on the scene. <br /> Item Quantity ' <br /> Fire hose and adjustable nozzle 150 feet <br /> Fire extinguishers CO2 or foam type 2 each <br /> Fire axe <br /> Shovels <br /> Fire blankets <br /> Forklift (for removing drums or moving <br /> equipment <br /> Hand held radios <br />
