Box 2009
445 N. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear r. Milson:
As agreed to at our meeting on June 7, it is our intent to
remove the wood and insulation debris that EPA placed in the City
of Stockton municipal landfill . Approximately 7 roll-off bins of
demolition debris were sent to the landfill between May and June
1994 as part of a CERCLA removal action at the McCormick and
Baxter Superfund site.
Our plan is to:
1 . Locate the general area in the landfill where the debris
was placed with the assistance of the City' s landfill
operator;
2 . Uncover the waste in the cell utilizing the combination
of a track hoe and a dozer in an attempt to identify the
specific debris from the McCormick and Baxter site;
3 . Once we have made the best possible effort to identify
the debris to the mutual satisfaction of your representative
and our OSC, we will excavate that material, place it in
roll-off boxes, and lawfully transport it back to the
McCormick and Baxter site;
4 . If the excavation goes beyond one day, a cover will be
placed over the open excavation per landfill operational
requirements;
5 . When the excavation is completed, the disturbed areas
will be restored per landfill operational requirements;
6 . Once back at McCormick and Baxter, the debris will be
sampled, and after determining the regulatory status of the
material, it will be transported to an appropriate disposal
facility consistent with all State and federal environmental
laws and regulations .
Printed on Recycled Paper
