Product DesAption <br />Introduction <br />The SMARTFLEX installation technology is based on one of the most widely <br />used processes in the polyethylene industry: electro -fusion. Throughout this <br />manual specific instructions will be given to achieve a reliable installation of <br />the SMARTFLEX system. <br />It is the responsibility of the trained installer to adhere to all manufacturer <br />recommended practices and local regulations in order to avoid personal in- <br />jury. <br />SMARTFLEX can be installed only by SMARTFLEX Certified Installers. A <br />Certified Installer shall complete the SMARTFLEX Certified Installer training <br />course prior to obtaining his/her Certified Installer credentials. Certified <br />Installer training is valid for a period of three years. <br />WARNING: This document contains recommendations and information re- <br />garding NUPI SpA and NUPI Americas (collectively NUPI) products and their <br />installation. Attention is drawn to any relevant local and/or national regulations. <br />Information in this document are subject to change without notice. <br />Primary SMARTFLEX piping for conveying petroleum products, alcohols <br />and alcohol -gasoline mixtures underground <br />The primary fuel conveyance pipe is a multi -layer product. It combines the <br />excellent mechanical properties of high-density polyethylene with the low <br />permeability, high resistance and high performance of an engineered ther- <br />moplastic liner. The liner provides: <br />• An impervious barrier to fuels; <br />• Excellent resistance to wear; <br />• High resilience; <br />• Exceptional long-term resistance to pressure; <br />• Limited head loss. <br />Secondary piping <br />The SMARTFLEX secondary piping differs from those currently available on <br />the market in that it is not just a simple jacket but is in fact a high density <br />polyethylene pressure pipe. It ensures: <br />• Good chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, alcohols, solvents, saline, acid <br />and alkaline solutions; <br />• Long-term resistance to pressure; <br />• Rugged design. <br />FITTING <br />
