29 March 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1154
ANALYTICAL METHODS
The soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories
(CTEL), a California Department of Health Services-certified laboratory, for analysis for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel fuel (TPH-d) in
accordance with EPA Method 8015M;
• Fuel oxygenated compounds -tertiary butanol(TBA), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tert
butyl ether(ETBE), tert amyl methyl ether(TAME) and MTBE, 1,2-Dichloroethane (1,2-
DCA)and ethylene dibromide(EDB)in accordance with EPA Method 8260 Modified; and
• Volatile organic compounds,including benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes(BTEX),
and methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
The analysis of samples for TPH-d was directed on-site by the SJCEHD and was not originally part
of the scope of work.
FINDINGS
The soil type encountered in the borings consisted of silty sand/sand sandy silt.No discoloration or
odor were observed in the samples during collection.
All soil samples were submitted to CTEL for analysis as noted above. No target analytes were
detected in the analyzed soil samples. A copy of the laboratory report (CTEL Project No. CT214
0403202) is enclosed.
Based upon the analytical results, an AGE representative called Mr. Ken Wendt of Wendt
Construction to inform him that the soil samples were non-detect. A copy of this report will be
forwarded to SJCEHD with your approval and payment of the attached invoice.
LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities. The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory. Evaluation of the
geologic/hydrogeologic conditions at the site for the purpose of this investigation was made from
a limited number of available data points (i.e. soil samples) and subsurface conditions may vary
away from these data points. No other warranty, expressed or implied,is made as to the professional
interpretations, opinions and recommendations contained in this report.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
