March 31, 1988 <br />Desert Petroleum Inc., <br />John Rutherford <br />P 0 Box 1601 <br />Oxnard, CA 93032 <br />RE: Monitoring Alternative #6 and Removal of Waste Oil Tank <br />Implementation of monitoring alternative #6 requires the following <br />information to be submitted to the San Joaquin Local Health District: <br />1. Submit a permit application with the workplan and proposal for <br />all vadose monitoring wells. <br />2. Verify the presence of sand or pea gravel backfill for the vadose <br />monitoring devices. <br />3. Verify the vadose zone by documenting the distance between the <br />bottom of the tank and the ground water. <br />4. Include the soil and ground water sampling on the vadose monitoring <br />well installation proposal. <br />5. If there is any contamination identified on the initial soil sample <br />then a full site assessment must be performed and remediation alternative <br />proposed. (Tani: removal maybe required as part of remediation). <br />Permanent closure requirements shall apply to waste oil tanks where <br />the storage of hazardous substances has ceased and where the owner <br />has no intent within the next two (2) years of using this tank.
