E <br />Proper installation is essential to the expected product life and <br />performance of Moderns "GS1746" Underground Storage <br />Tank. This tank must be installed in accordance with these <br />installation instructions, the latest issue of N.F.P.A. 30 and 31 <br />pamphlet, the PE -100 and local authorities having <br />jurisdiction over underground tank installations and codes. <br />Underground tank burial is a specialized skill, which requires <br />practical experience combined with careful adherence to <br />recognized good practices and procedures. If you do not have <br />proper experience in tank installations, contact a contractor who <br />does. <br />The presence of a Modem Welding Company representative at <br />installation sites does not in any way relieve the installing <br />contractor of the responsibility to follow the published <br />installation instructions. <br />For the Modern "GS1746" Underground Storage Tank <br />warranty to be initiated, the Installation Checklist must be <br />properly filled out by the installation contractor and tank owner. <br />The checklist must be returned to the Modern Welding <br />Company subsidiary from which the tank was fabricated. A <br />copy of the Installation Checklist must be kept by the tank <br />owner and installing contractor to validate any future warranty <br />claim. The Installation Checklist must be returned within 30 <br />I <br />days after date of installation or 90 days after the shipment date <br />to jobsite, whichever comes first. <br />"Safety llways" - Safety is of utmost importance. Do not <br />drop or roll the tank. <br />Equipment to lift and lower the tank shall be of sufficient <br />capacity to do so without dragging or dropping the tank. <br />The tank shall be lifted and lowered using the lifting lugs or <br />lifting device provided. Cables or chains used shall be of <br />adequate length to provide the proper angle of rigging to <br />prevent undo stress on tank at lifting lugs. Maximum angle of <br />the sling shall be 60 degrees. No circumstances warrant the use <br />of chains or slings placed around the tank shell. This will <br />damage tank's exterior coating. <br />Visually inspect the tank exterior for damage at time of delivery. <br />Any extreme gouging or abrasion should be carefully reviewed, <br />noted and appropriate corrective action taken. Note on the <br />delivery "Bill of Lading" any damage so the Modem Welding <br />Company driver representative, can confirm damaged area. <br />Contact the "Modem" subsidiary from which the tank was <br />purchased for notification of damage and proper repair <br />procedure. <br />If tank is stored on site prior to installation, a secure area shall <br />be chosen. Special attention shall be considered in selecting the <br />storage location to assure the absence of rocks and foreign <br />objects that might cause damage to the tank's exterior. <br />
