Inspection Report -
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories
Site 300
Inspection date - 08/16-17/2001
Upon arrival at LLNL Site 300 1 went straight to Dan's office. We held an in-briefing during which I asked for
consent to continue the inspection. Dan gave consent for my inspection to continue. We again discussed the
use of generator knowledge in lieu of a detailed waste analysis. Dan told me that LLNLS300 will be conducting
a waste analysis of the waste parts washer in response to the violations cited in the previous inspection. He
also said the Department would be provided with a copy the results of that analysis as soon as it was available.
DOCUMENT REVIEW/TRANSPORTER INSPECTION:
I completed the document review, for details and results of that review see Section III.
I also conducted the transporter inspection. I was shown one of the vehicles, Lic. No. G4273978. I observed
that the vehicle carried all of the required paper work, which appeared to be in order. For more details see
Section I I L
V. VIOLATIONS
Summary of Observations attached? Yes
VI. CONCLUSIONS
An exit briefing was held to provide the facility representatives with details of the observations made during the
inspection. I thanked Dan and everyone else for facilitating my inspection. I stated that I appreciated the
cooperation provided by LLNLS300 staff. I said that I found all areas visited had exhibited good housekeeping.
I said that I had observed no violations during the inspection. I then gave Dan a copy of the Summary of
Observations (SOO) for his review and signature. I also gave Dan a copy of the Health & Safety Code, Section
25173, which references claims of trade secret. After signing the SOO, Dan returned the original to me. This
concluded my inspection of LLNLS300.
August 20, 2001
After returning to the office I checked the mailing date of the report and cover letter to LLNLS300 for the
DTSC (3/95) Page 10 of 11
