O.E.S. - KnOx'S Texaco
April 11, 1991
Page -2-
Health Division was on site to observe the tank removal and
sampling procedures.
2.0 INVESTIGATION
Dave Meade of Condor Earth Technologies, Inc. (Condor), was
on site to collect soil samples following the removal of the
tank. The tank was rusted but no holes were apparent. The soil
surrounding the tank was light to dark brown, well -sorted coarse-
grained sand. The sand was extremely loose and sloughed from the
sides of the excavation as tank removal activities progressed. A
slight petroleum odor was noticed in the excavation. Groundwater
was not encountered.
At the request of the City of Lodi, the excavation was
backfilled with soil, compacted, and barricaded with temporary
chain link fencing following sampling procedures.
2.1 Soil Samples
Two soil samples were taken from the excavation after the
tank was removed (See Figure 2 for sample locations). One sample
was taken from beneath the north end of the tank•at a depth of
approximately 111/2 feet (#145D-TK1-N). A second sample (#145D-
TK1-S) was taken from the south end of the excavation at a depth
of approximately 12 feet.
CONDOR
