28 August 2009
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1173
of the pea gravel removed during the sampling of at the boring B-1 l location could not be back-filled
and was containerized in a Department of Transportation 17H 55-gallon drum and properly marked
with a hazardous waste label and left on site awaiting proper characterization and disposal. The
waste manifest will be provided to SJCEHD upon completion of proper disposal.KCP resealed each
concrete core and the 3-ft by 4-ft slab with a concrete patch.
Soil samples were transported under chain-of-custody procedures to Cal Tech Environmental
Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Public Health-certified laboratory located in
Paramount, California. The samples were analyzed for:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Method
8015 Modified and
• Benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene and total xylenes (BTEX)compounds in accordance with
EPA Method 8260.
FINDINGS
The analytical results of the soil samples collected from borings B-11 through B-17 are as follows:
TPH-d were reported in the soil samples collected from borings B-12 through B-17 at concentrations
of 1,900 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg), 5,400 mg/kg, 6,300 mg/kg, 59 mg/kg, 5,600 mg/kg and
62 mg/kg,respectively.
TPH-d were not reported in the soil sample collected from boring B-11.
BTEX compounds were not reported in the soil samples collected from borings B-11 through B-17
above laboratory minimum detection limits.
No additional chemicals of concern were reported in the analyzed soil samples collected from
borings B-11 through B-17. The soil analytical results are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory
report(CTEL Project No. CT214-0907157),quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC)report,
and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix A.
CONCLUSIONS
TPH-d were reported above the California Regional Water Quality Control Board- San Francisco
Bay Region Environmental Screening Level(ESL) for TPH middle distillates of 100 mg/kg in the
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
