PHS/EHD has the
following comments for your consideration.
The following is a summary of underground storage tanks which have been located on
this site. The tanks were located in two areas, Pit 1 and Pit 2.
Pit# Tank# disposition sample#
2 39-1615-01 (500 gallon) pending closure in place SB1
1 39-1615-02 (500 gallon) removed 12/20/88
1 39-1615-02A (50 gallon) removed 5/18/93 T-1
1 39-1615-03 (50 gallon) removed 5/18/93 T-2
1 39-1615-04 (500 gallon) removed 5/18/93 T-3
2 39-1615-05 (1000 gallon) pending closure in place SB2/SB3
2 39-1615-06 (50 gallon) removed 5/18/93 T-4
PHS/EHD disagrees with the evaluation of the tank condition included in the report
which stated that "... the tanks were rusted; however, no holes or leaks were noted."
PHS/EHD staff observed several holes up to 1.5 inches in diameter.
An over excavation was initiated on May 18, 1993 in an attempt to remove contaminated
soil evidenced during the December 20, 1988 tank removal and the May 18, 1993 tank
removal. The excavation comprised an area of approximately 156 cubic yards. Five soil
samples, four sidewall and one bottom, were collected from the excavation.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
r
