oy. .
All
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
'-' Vapor Extraction Technology, Inc. (VET) was retained by The Southland Corporation in
October of 1989 to provide remediation services at the 7-ELEVEN Store at 9110 Thornton
Road in Stockton, California. The soil and groundwater at the site are contaminated with
gasoline as a result of previous product line leakage between the pump island and the
M, underground storage tanks. The area of groundwater contamination is the southwest
corner of the site fused on the isoconcentrations of dissolved constituents of gasoline in
t,»
the nine onsite groundwater monitoring wells.
a
i .
In-situ soil vapor extraction was chosen as tha most cost effective means of remediating
the contaminated soils and groundwater based on the soil conditions at the site. The
gasoline contamination has migrated vertically through the silty clays in the upper vadose
zone into a gravel layer underlain by a clay layer. The contamination has spread laterally
f
Lr throughout the gravel layer. Vapor extraction utilizing the monitoring wells which are
screened within the gravel and silty soils will remediate the soil and reduce or eliminate
the time required to remediate the contaminated groundwater.
The work performed to date includes investigative excavation and surveying of the existing
underground PVC conduit, modification of the PVC piping system as needed to utilize it
for vapor extraction, installation of five traffic rated well boxes, vapor sampling and survey
art
VAPOR EXTRACTION TECHNOLOGY, INC,
