The scope of work is designed to remove hydrocarbon
impacted soil identified in previous investigations and to further define the boundaries of
I
hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater at the site.
Previous environmental assessment at the site has identified hydrocarbon impacted soil in the t
vicinity of the former underground storage tank (UST) cavity and pump island (Figure 2).
Exploratory trenching on site has defined the limits of hydrocarbon-impacted soil in the unsaturated
zone (Wallace and Kuhl, August 1994). Groundwater Technology will supervise the excavation of
hydrocarbon-impacted soil located within the limits defined by the previous investigation (Figure 2).
Additional soil and groundwater assessment will be conducted outside of the previously identified
impacted zone to determine the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and
groundwater related to the former UST cavity and dispenser island. Groundwater Technology will
collect soil and groundwater samples from five soil borings located around the former UST cavity
and pump islands. The results of this work will aid in the design of future environmental work at the
site, if needed. Details of the scope of work for soil and groundwater assessment are summarized
below.
0053SGA.WKP(MI SC-75)
Offices throughout the U.S.,Canada and Overseas
