SaL EXAVATION AND SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION RESULTS Rif <br /> 32 Tokay Street Lodi Caidorrna <br /> • Drilling and sampling three sal borings (AB, S13-1, and S13-2) to a depth of <br /> approximately 30 feet below surface, to assess native soil conditions <br /> beneath and adjacent to the former excavation <br /> I Characterizing and disposing of the drill cuttings and stockpiled soil at the <br /> Forward, Inc (Forward), a Class II landfill facility in Stockton, California <br /> 2.0 BACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Site Description <br /> The site is located at the Pacific Coast Producers Lodi Cannery Plant on the north side <br /> of Warehouse #6, in a commercial area of Lodi, California <br /> A 10,000-gallon diesel tank was reportedly removed from the site in 1987 The <br /> approximately 10-foot-wide by 35-foot-long by 15- to 20-foot-deep excavation was <br /> backfilled with a blend of previously-excavated soil and clean fill However, soil containing <br /> diesel fuel was noted in the excavation pit, prompting a request for investigation and <br /> remediation activities from the County The County requested removal of all sod <br /> containing greater than 100 parts-per-million (ppm) total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), <br /> as diesel and oil & grease, 10 ppm TPH, as gasoline, and 0 005 ppm for benzene, <br /> toluene, ethyibenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) <br /> 2 2 Previous Invests atlon <br /> In 1991, five soil borings were drilled and sampled to depths of 20 feet below grade in the <br /> I area of the former excavation The borings were drilled to assess the vertical and lateral <br /> extent of soil containing petroleum hydrocarbons Four of the borings were drilled 5 feet <br /> from the former excavation on each of the four sides The fifth boring was drilled in the <br /> center of the former excavation Soil samples from depths ranging from 4 to 20 feet <br /> contained concentrations of TPH, as diesel, and oil & grease, ranging from below <br /> detection limits (BDL) to 603 ppm Concentrations of BTEX ranged from BDL to <br /> E 0 0483 ppm No hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples from the borings north and <br /> south of the excavation <br /> E2.3 Generalized Geology and Hydrogeology <br /> The site is located in the San Joaquin Valley portion of California's Central Valley The <br /> E general geology of the area is indicated on the Geologic Map of California (1977) as <br /> Quaternary-age alluvium <br /> E <br />• <br /> E92-074A ERR 2 <br />
