' SOILEXCAVATiON ANO DISPOSAL WORKPLAN
32 Tokay Street Lodi Caldornia
Aegis proposes to characterize the soil to be removed by using a backhoe to excavate
' east-west and north-south trending trenches through the center of the former excavation,
to a depth of up to 15 feet below grade (Figure 2) Soil samples will be analyzed on site
by a state-certified moble laboratory for concentrations of TPH, as diesel, and BTEX If
' TPH or BTEX concentrations greater than 100 or 0 005 ppm, respectively, are noted in
any of the samples, that section will be excavated to beyond the sample location and
resampled Trenching will be terminated when the extent of soil containing greater than
' 100 ppm TPH, as diesel, and 0 005 ppm BTEX is determined The soil characterization
is expected to be completed in 1 day It is estimated that ten to fifteen samples will be
analyzed on site for TPH, as diesel, and BTEX
' 3 2 Soil Excavation
Using the excavation boundaries established during the trenching and sampling phase,
Aegis personnel will supervise soil excavation It is estimated approximately 200 cubic
yards of soil within and around the former diesel tank basin will be removed
3.3 Excavation Backfilling
After excavation, Aegis will report soil sampling results to the County and request
permission to backfill the excavation The excavation will be backfilled with suitable clean
imported fill and compacted to County specifications, prior to repaving
3 4 Soil Disposal
Excavated soil will be stockpiled on site Stockpiled soil will be characterized for disposal
at either the Forward Landfill in Stockton, or the BFI Landfill in Livermore, depending on
soil sampling analytical results Additional analysis may be required depending on which
landfill is used
3 5 Closure Report Preparation
A draft closure report will be prepared documenting site activities, sampling results, and
soil disposal The finalized report will be submitted to the County following client
approval All work will be conducted under the direction of a professional geologist,
registered with the State of California
3 6 Site Health and Safety Plan
A site health and safety plan (SHSP) has been prepared and will be on site during all field
activities A copy of the SHSP is included as Appendix B All on-site work will be
conducted according to the SHSP The SHSP contains information on the properties of
potentially hazardous materials determined to be on site by previous investigations The
information is equivalent to that contained within Material Safety Data Sheets
92-074A WPN 3
I
