08 August 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0254
MW-7 and OW-1 through OW-10 were drilled-outto one foot deeperthan total depth using
a CME-75 hollow stem auger drill rig equipped with 8.25-inch diameter hollow stem augers.
Well MW-2A/B was drilled out using 10.25-inch diameter augers. All original well
construction materials were removed(including well casing, screen, filter pack, and annular
seal)to ensure that no residual contamination was sealed within the abandoned borehole;
the majority of the shallow well casings were removed intact before advancing the augers
beyond three feet below surface grade(bsg). Following over-drilling,each well was grouted
to near surface using a Portland cement grout mixture, well boxes were removed and the
surfaces at each location were completed with a rapid setting concrete mixture.
Well MW-6 was drilled out to a depth of approximately three feet bsg; the well casing for
MW-6 was removed intact. A 1-inch diameter PVC private water line was encountered at
three feet bsg extending directly adjacent to the borehole of MW-6. The water line was
damaged by drilling activities and was repaired on 15 May 2012. However, due to the
location of the water line the well could not be over-drilled to total depth. At the direction
of the EHD the top three feet of the borehole was grouted to the near surface and the
surface was completed with concrete.
Well construction materials and soil cuttings were placed in a soil bin for subsequent
disposal. Two soil samples were collected from the soil bin on 16 May 2012 and sent to
Cal Tech Environmental Laboratory (CTEL), a state-certified laboratory, for soil profiling
analysis. The samples were composited and analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons
as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA method 8015-modified, benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), five fuel oxygenates, ethylene dibromide (EDB)
and 1,2-dichloroethane (DCA) in accordance with EPA method 82608 and total lead in
accordance with EPA method 6010B.The analytical results indicated that all analytes were
below detectable limits. On 06 June 2012,the soil was transported to Potrero Hills Landfill
in Suisun,California, under non-hazardous waste manifest. The laboratory analytical report
(CTEL Project Number CT214-1205119), quality assurance/quality control report, and
chain-of-custody form are included in Appendix B. A copy of the non-hazardous waste
manifest is included in Appendix C.
Advanced GeoEm9ronmental,Inc.
