(APE)and has the following comments.
The Reportpresents an evaluation of two remedial technologies for their potential to
effectively remediate the remaining groundwater contamination at this site, and for cost
effectiveness. The two methods compared were ozone infusion and groundwater extraction.
A groundwater pumping test was conducted at the site in August 2000. From the results of
this test combined with the issues relating to the: implementation of groundwater extraction
such as disposal of the extracted water, AGE has recommended that an `in-situ' method of
remediation, such as ozone infusion, would be more cost effective at your site.
In the Report AGE proposes to use the results from a nearby contaminated site which has
effectively remediated groundwater contamination with ozone infusion in lieu of a pilot test for
your site. AGE states that the site stratigraphy at Curtis Pontiac:,typically possesses
hydraulic conductivity values favorable for effective ozone infusion. and that the site
stratigraphy is similar to that of the nearby contaminated site. The EH>b agrees that ozone
infusion :appears to be a potentially cast effective technology to be considered for
remediatibn of the groundwater contarnination at your site. However,'if the.nearby site did
not conduct a bench scale test, and the site was not monitored for mobilized metals, a bench.
scale test would have to be performed at your site before ozone infusion could be considered
as a remedial alternative, Please proceed with submittal of an addendum to the Report
addressing the issue of bench scale testing and/or a work plan to conduct a bench scale test
no later than May 9, 2008.
