SUMMARY OF REMEDIATION(OVEREXCAVATION)ACTIVrrIES <br /> 27 MAY 2003 - The asphalt overlaying the area to be excavated was saw cut, removed and <br /> stockpiled.Overexcavation began with approximately 100 cubic yards.ofhydrocarbon-impacted sail <br /> excavated and stockpiled; <br /> 2$M02003-Overexcavation continued;approximately 500 cubic yards ofhydrocarbon-impacted <br /> soil was:excavated and stockpiled. Unmarked sprinkler line damaged and temporarily repaired. <br /> Damaged asphalt noted in stockpile area and area leading to and from.excavation:. <br /> 291V 2003-Overexcavation continued-approximately 5OO cubic yards ofhydrocarbon impacted <br /> soil was excavated and stockpiled. Re-engineering of a canopy attached to the showroom and <br /> removal of former dispenser island,vent lines and concrete drive required,additional;subcontractor <br /> costs and delayed excavation..The dispenser island area was not originally proposed for°excavation <br /> due to the load bearing nature of the canopy support. Because of the highly-impacted soil located <br /> below the f6rm dispenser islands,the property owner and EHD approved removal ofthe structure <br /> to facilitate excavation. <br /> 30 MAY 2003-Continuation of overexcavaaon.Field indications s uggested sl illow soil.(I ss than <br /> 3 feet below grade)'would not require offsite dispersal.A separate stockpile was established for clean <br /> overburden.Approxi>tirtateiy 300duhic yards ofhydrocarbon-impacted soil excavated and stockpired <br /> appmxirnately 140 cubic yards of clean overburden stockpiled. <br /> 02 and 03 JUNE.2003 Backfilling of excavation. During backfilling on 03 rune 2003;. sub- <br /> contractor damaged wwater supply line..Additional time required.,to repair line. <br /> 04 JUNE:1003 - Loading and transportation of excavated soil. Soil was transported to Forward. <br /> Landfill.Additional damage to asphalt parking;lot caused by loading and transportation activities <br /> was=noted:: . <br /> O5 JUNE 2003-C nuation.of loading and transportation of excavated sail.and;permanent repair <br /> of broken water supply lines. Based,on weight tags received from the landfill,approximately 1,350 <br /> tons of impacted soil was removed from the site. <br /> 06;09`through 12 JUNE 2003-Asphalt damaged during stockpiil>ti g,loading and transporting was. <br /> stockpiled and removed from the site.Additional backfilling;rough grading and clean-up completed. <br /> for asphalt replacement(Wilson Construction subsequently camoJti and performed"final"grading <br /> and replaccnjent ofasphalt);. <br />
