Site Background Information: Former Curtiss Pontiac-Buick
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0254
• TPH-g was detected in 28 of the 33 submitted soil samples at concentrations
ranging from 1.4 mg/kg in sidewall sample EXE21-6 to 2,200 mg/kg in sidewall
sample EX E20-6. TPH -d w as detected i n 14 of the 33 s oil sampl es at
concentrations ranging from 98 mg/kg (sidewall sample EXE15-6) to 1,300 mg/kg
(floor sample FLR-02). BTEX constituents were detected in 26 soil samples at
concentrations as high as 25 mg/kg benzene in sidewall sample EXE18-6 and 72
mg/kg toluene, 62 mg/kg ethylbenzene and 260 mg/kg xylenes in sidewall sample
EXE17-6. Fuel additives and lead were not detected above laboratory reporting
limits in any of the samples analyzed.
On 02 and 03 June 2003, the excavation was backfilled using pea graeel, clean native soil
and imported A/B baserock.
On 04 and 05 June 2003, approximately 1,310 tons of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted
soil was transported to Forward Landfill in Manteca, California for disposal.
MASS-VOLUME CALCULATIONS
Mass-volume calculations were conducted in the AGE-prepared Excavation and Sampling
Report-Former Gasoline UST, dated 09 January 2004. The calculations are presented in
Appendix E of the aforementioned report. The mass of petroleum hydrocarbons removed
during excavation activities (28 to 30May 2003) and the rrass of remaining hydrocarbons
was determined based on aialytical results of soil samples collected during theexcavation
and from soil borings advanced during previous site assessment activities.
Mass of Petroleum Hydrocarbons Removed
The mass of petroleum hydrocarbons removed in soil was determined on the basis of the
averaged concentrations of TPH-g in the soil samples collected from within theexcavation
area during excavation and previous s ite as sessment activities. AG E's calculations
estimated that approximately 1,913 lbs or 306 gal of gasoline were removed from the site
during the soil over-excavation procedures.
Mass of Petroleum Hydrocarbons Remaining
The mass of petroleum hydrocarbons removed in soil was determined on the basis of the
averaged concentrations of TPH-g in the soil samples collected from the walls and floor
of the excavation area during excavation and previous site assessment activities.
