15 May 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 96-0254
One soil boring(OZ-1) will be advanced on-site for the purpose of soil sample collection for an
ozone bench scale test. Soil samples selected for analyses will be collected from the saturated zone,
approximately the 15 and-3-5 foot-interval-below=surface^-grade:It is proposed that up to twelve
soil samples will be selected for analyses:Soilsamples from each interval will be utilized for the
Ozone Injection Bench Scale Study. Procedures for the advancement of the soil boring and for soil
sampling are attached in Appendix B.
Ground water samples representative of the dissolved hydrocarbon plume will be collected in
accordance with sampling procedures described in previous quarterly monitoring reports, and in
compliance with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(C VRWQCB)guidelines
for sampling.Ground water samples from MW-1B and MW-4 monitoring wells will be used for the
ozone injection bench scale test. Ground water sampling procedures are attached in Appendix B.
Adequate ground water samples will be collected for analysis also to include the general mineral
parameters, and for utilization during the proposed Ozone Injection Bench Scale Study. The
shipment of the samples to a laboratory for analysis will occur within 24 hours of sampling.
Procedures for the Ozone Injection Bench Scale Study are attached in Appendix C. i
A geochemical evaluation(GE)of the Ozone Injection Bench Scale Study will be prepared by the
analytical laboratory; it will present the results of tests for the formation of by-products and the
potential for contaminant reduction, with generalized worst case reactions. The report will be in a
format acceptable to the CVRWQCB,and will be reviewed by a California Professional Geologist.
Upon completion of the proposed scope of work,a report of findings will be prepared and submitted
to the EHD for consideration of permanent ozone injection system operation and monitoring.
Upon approval of the work plan, AGE will submit a drilling permit and application fee to the
appropriate agency.
