e � � ' . 18 July 2002 AGE-NC Prglect No 96-0254 Page 2 of 17 ' The Modesto, Riverbank and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the principal sources of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square mile San Joaquin Valley Ground Water Basin (Basin 5-22) This basin is drained pnmanly by the San Joaquin River 2 2 LOCAL GROUND WATER SETTING The nearest surface water feature in the vicinity of the property is the Old River approximately 1,300 feet north of the site Ground water at the site is currently encountered at a depth of approximately 6 to 8 feet below surface grade (bsg), and has a northerly flow direction Ground water occurs in a generally silty clay extending from surface grade to the total depths of the wells Apparently discontinuous sand layers occur sporadically across the site, from approximately 8 feet Ibsg to 12 feet bsg and from approximately 14 feet bsg to 18 feet bsg I23 WELLSURVEY A survey of ground water wells was conducted on 08 September 2000 Four ground water wells '• within 2,000 feet of the subject property were identified as described below Additionally,nineteen ground water monitoring wells were observed at 3 different locations ' Domestic Welts According to Mr Joe Toste,Jr ,the property owner, there are two domestic water wells on Toste Road, one on-site(2450 Toste Road) and the other at 2480 Toste road, these wells I supply water to the site and the businesses located on Toste Road The on-site well is completed to a total depth of 220 feet bsg and contains a well screen from 195 feet to 220 feet bsg, a copy of the well dnller's log is included as Appendix A The well located at 2480 Toste Road is approximately ' 300 feet southwest of the site According to Mr Toste,this well is completed to a total depth of 200 feet No other information could be obtained regarding this well or two other domestic wells observed at 2040 and 2120 Grant Line Road A summary of all visually observed wells located dunng the reconnaissance is included in Table 1 Threatened Well The on-site domestic water well at 2450 Toste Road is located lust beyond the southern margin of the contaminant plume and up-gradient of the former dispensers and UST area This water well was sampled dunng the first and second quarters of 2002 for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d),benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX) and seven fuel additives None of the analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the samples collected I.
