i
I14 February 2000
• AGE-NC Project No 96-0254
26 SOIL LOGGING
During drilling, auger returns were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an organic
vapor meter (OVM)equipped with a photo-ionization detector(PID Thermo Environmental 580A,
10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) Auger returns were placed on plastic and stored on the western
edge of the site, pending laboratory analysis
IDuplicate soil samples were extruded from their sleeve and screened for the presence of organic
vapor using the OVM The OVM readings were recorded on boring logs The soil was manually and
Ivisually described in accordance with the USCS (see Boring Logs, Appendix A)
2 7 MONITORING WELL SURVEY
I The casing elevations of each well installed for the Curtiss-Pontiac UST investigation were surveyed
relative to a bench mark at the southern portion of the Highway 205 off ramp to Grant Line Road
On 30 December 1999, a California state-licensed survey engineer from Baumbach & Piazza, Inc
. surveyed a reference point on the top of each ground water monitoring well at the site to the nearest
0 01-foot relative to the City of Tracy Bench Marks and Description at 35 00 feet above mean sea
level (msl) The results of the monitoring well survey are contained in Table 1 The surveying report
(Baumbach& Piazza) is presented in Appendix C
2 8 GROUND WATER DEPTH MEASUREMENT AND PURGING
On 07 December 1999, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water
in each well relative to the top of the well casing After ground water depth measurements were
collected, monitoring wells were purged using a two-stage submersible pump
A minimum of 3 well-volumes of water were purged from all wells on the site Five gallons of
ground water were evacuated from wells MW-1B and MW-2B, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6
Twelve gallons of ground water were evacuated from wells MW-lA and MW-2A Four gallons of
ground water were evacuated from well MW-7
I Temperature, pH and conductivity of the purged water were measured at regular purge-volume
intervals in all wells The field data were measured with an ICM model 52200 water analyzer Logs
of the field data are included in Appendix D Purged water was stored on-site in labeled 55-gallon
Idrums
IAdvanced GeoEn.ironmental Inc
