i <br /> I14 February 2000 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 96-0254 <br /> Page 5 of 10 <br /> 26 SOIL LOGGING <br /> During drilling, auger returns were monitored for the presence of organic vapor using an organic <br /> vapor meter (OVM)equipped with a photo-ionization detector(PID Thermo Environmental 580A, <br /> 10 0 eV, calibrated to isobutylene) Auger returns were placed on plastic and stored on the western <br /> edge of the site, pending laboratory analysis <br /> IDuplicate soil samples were extruded from their sleeve and screened for the presence of organic <br /> vapor using the OVM The OVM readings were recorded on boring logs The soil was manually and <br /> Ivisually described in accordance with the USCS (see Boring Logs, Appendix A) <br /> 2 7 MONITORING WELL SURVEY <br /> I The casing elevations of each well installed for the Curtiss-Pontiac UST investigation were surveyed <br /> relative to a bench mark at the southern portion of the Highway 205 off ramp to Grant Line Road <br /> On 30 December 1999, a California state-licensed survey engineer from Baumbach & Piazza, Inc <br />� . surveyed a reference point on the top of each ground water monitoring well at the site to the nearest <br /> 0 01-foot relative to the City of Tracy Bench Marks and Description at 35 00 feet above mean sea <br /> level (msl) The results of the monitoring well survey are contained in Table 1 The surveying report <br /> (Baumbach& Piazza) is presented in Appendix C <br /> 2 8 GROUND WATER DEPTH MEASUREMENT AND PURGING <br /> On 07 December 1999, a Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water <br /> in each well relative to the top of the well casing After ground water depth measurements were <br /> collected, monitoring wells were purged using a two-stage submersible pump <br /> A minimum of 3 well-volumes of water were purged from all wells on the site Five gallons of <br /> ground water were evacuated from wells MW-1B and MW-2B, MW-3, MW-4, MW-5 and MW-6 <br /> Twelve gallons of ground water were evacuated from wells MW-lA and MW-2A Four gallons of <br /> ground water were evacuated from well MW-7 <br /> I Temperature, pH and conductivity of the purged water were measured at regular purge-volume <br /> intervals in all wells The field data were measured with an ICM model 52200 water analyzer Logs <br /> of the field data are included in Appendix D Purged water was stored on-site in labeled 55-gallon <br /> Idrums <br /> IAdvanced GeoEn.ironmental Inc <br />
