Nod
h" KLEINFELDER
1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
V
This is a report of the soil assessment investigation conducted at Tracy Community
Memorial Hospital. Six soil borings were advanced to a depth of 13 feet surrounding the
tank excavation. A seventh boring was advanced east of the tank excavation to
. continuously log the lithology at the site and assess the local depth to ground water.
Ground water was first encountered at 16 feet below the ground surface and after 45
minutes reached a static water level of approximately 13.5 feet below the ground surface.
. Three samples were collected, screened in the field, and analyzed from each of the seven
borings. The samples were collected from approximately 5, 10, and 13 foot depths.
Organic vapor screening in the field and visual examination of the samples indicated the
localized presence of hydrocarbon contamination immediately west of the previous
L..
excavation.
Analytical results from the borings north, south, and east of the excavation (soil borings B-
1, B-2, and B-3, respectively) were nondetect for the analyzed compounds. A sample
collected from B-4 immediately adjacent to the western edge of the excavation had a total
. petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) result of 3,000 parts per million (ppm) diesel at 9 feet but
was nondetect at 13 feet. A second sample from B-7, had a TPH result of 14 ppm diesel at
,r 13 feet below surface. All other samples collected from each boring were nondetect for the
analyzed compounds.
La
Based on the results of this investigation, Kleinfelder recommends that Tracy Community
I Memorial Hospital obtain authorization to excavate the contaminated soil, remove it from
the site, and backfill the excavation with clean fill.
+w A copy of this report should be submitted to the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Branch for their review and consideration.
M.
t..
150-88-2193 1
