4.5 Installation of the New USTs and Tank Cavity Wells
' Golden West installed four new, double-wall, 10,000-gallon fiberglass USTs, and four tank
cavity-wells on July 23, 1993. The four wells were located in each corner of dwtank cavity
' excavation (Figure 4). The wells were installed to a depth of 13 ft bgs and consisted of 4-arch
and 12-inch diameter slotted PVC pipe. The space in the new tank cavity surrounding the tanks
' and wells was backfilled with imported pea gravel. As-Built drawings of the new USTs and
piping systems will be prepared by Tait Associates, Inc., of Rancho Cordova, California (Tait).
' Once the As-Built drawings are completed, Tait will submit a copy of the drawings to the TFD
46 Laboratory Analyses
' All soil and water samples collected during this investigation were delivered for chemical
analyses to Sequoia Analytical (Sequoia) of Concord and Redwood City, California, a State
certified laboratory. The samples were analyzed for the following compounds
• Total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G) by U.S
' Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 5030/8015,
• Total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-D) by USEPA
' Method 3550/8015,
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) by USEPA
Method 8020,
• Total lead by USEPA Method 7421, and
• Ethylene dibromide (EDB) by USEPA Method 8010
' Table 1 summarizes the laboratory analytical data for the former UST cavity and the product line
' trench samples Laboratory analytical reports and Chain-of-Custody Documentation forms are
presented in Appendix B.
1
5 Doc #AISM01I7
