The purpose of this investigation is to define the extent of hydrocarbons in the groundwater
in the downgradient direction from well ATR-8 This should be accomplished with the
. installation of monitoring wells ATR-13 and ATR-14 Prior to installing these wells, written
access permission will be obtained from the property owner(s)
SCOPE OF WORK
This section describes the proposed scope of work for the construction of off-site groundwater
monitoring wells ATR-13 and ATR-14 Appendix A presents the BC standard field
procedures
Momtoring Well Installation
The proposed locations of monitoring wells ATR-13 and ATR-14 are within the parking area
of the Motel Orleans The construction of the wells will be in accordance with State and
County well construction regulations Groundwater monitoring wells ATR-13 and ATR-14
will be constructed of 2-inch-diameter, flush-threaded schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
The wells will be screened from approximately 5 to 25 feet below ground surface with 0 020-
inch slotted casing (groundwater is expected to be encountered between 8 and 12 feet below
ground surface) The wells will be drilled using a truck-mounted drilling rig equipped with
8-inch-outside-diameter hollow-stem augers to the bottom of the well
. Soil and Groundwater Sampling
Soil samples will be collected every five feet from each boring Two to three soil samples
from each borehole will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G),
and benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylenes (BETX) using U S Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) Method 50301802018015 Modified
After the wells have been developed, groundwater samples will be collected from each
monitoring well The groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH-G and BETX using
Method 6021802018015 Modified The proper disposal of decontamination and development
purge water will be coordinated by BC
The cuttings generated during drilling will be temporarily stored (at ARCO Facility 2093) on
plastic sheeting and covered with plastic A soil samples will be collected from the cuttings
generated from the drilling and analyzed for TPH-G and BETX using EPA Method
5030/8020/8015 Modified, reactive sulfides and cyanides by EPA Method 9010, corrosivity
(pH) by EPA Method 9045, Ignitability (flash point) by EPA Method 1010, and Soluble
Threshold Limit Concentration for lead by EPA Method 6010/7000 series Upon receipt of
the laboratory report, BC will forward the results to ARCO's contracted soil disposal trucking
company
Use or disclosure of data contained on this sheet is subject to the restriction specified at the beginning of this
document
2640MREPORTS12640-01 WP
