5'
18 July 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0452
3.1. PRE-FIELD WORK TASKS
Site assessment permits will be obtained from the EHD.In addition,an update to the site health and
safety plan presently on-file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health
Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
Prior to mobilization, the proposed probe boring will be clearly marked and a utility clearance
obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. SOIL AND GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
AGE proposes to advance three soil probe borings for the collection of soil and ground water
samples, using direct push technology;proposed probe boring locations maybe modified due to field
observations. Proposed probe boring locations are shown on Figure 2 and are as follows:
• Boring B6, located 10 to 20 feet west of well MW-4, advanced to an approximate depth of
35 feet below surface grade(bsg)or until a second water bearing unit is encountered, for the
collection of a deep grab ground water sample;
• Boring B7, located 75 feet northwest of well MW-4, advanced to an approximate depth of
10 feet bsg, for the collection of soil samples and a shallow grab ground water sample; and
• Boring B8,located 80 feet west of well MW-4,advanced to an approximate depth of 10 feet
bsg, for the collection of soil samples and a shallow grab ground water sample.
Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals from shallow grab ground water borings B7 and B8.
Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg in boring B6, in
order to locate a second water bearing unit to collect a deep grab ground water sample. AGE
anticipates, based on the boring log of the on-site domestic well (provided in Appendix B) and the
lithology of the adjacent sites, that second ground water will be encountered at approximately 35 feet
bsg. Soil samples collected from boring B6 will be analyzed for COC however soil samples from
the remaining borings may not require analysis (based on filed observations).
Grab ground water samples from each probe boring will be analyzed by a CDPH-certified laboratory
for the constituents listed in Section 2.0. Grab ground water laboratory reports of analyses, testing
methods,laboratory QA/QC reports,and sample chain-of-custody documentation will be presented
in a report with findings and recommendations.Field procedures for advancement of probe borings
and collection of soil and ground water samples are presented in Section 4.1.
Advanced GcoEnvironmental,Inc.
