' 08 December 2000
• AGE-NC Project No 98-0452
I
for
' • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Methods
5030/8015m and 3550,
' • Methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 602/8020, and
• Oxygenated fuel additives-MTBE, tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPS),
' ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), and tertiary ainyl methyl ether(TAME) in accordance with
EPA Method 8260-Modified
I
3.0. FINDINGS
IGround water elevation and flow direction were calculated from field data, hydrocarbon-impact to
ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
lieThe relative elevation of groundwater in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground
water from the surveyed well head elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water ranged from 5 21
I feet to 5 85 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged from
0 89 feet in MW-3 to -1 23 in MW-1 relative to mean sea level The ground water gradient was
calculated to be 0 004 ft/ft with a flow direction toward the south to southwest (Figure 3)
I
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
'
TPH-g and BTEX compounds were not analyzed in the ground water samples collected during the
' September 2000 sampling event
TPH-d was not reported above laboratory reporting limits m any of the ground water samples
' analyzed
MTBE was detected by EPA Method 8260 modified in the ground water sample collected from
MW-3 at a concentration of 220 micrograms per liter (µg/1)
Analytical results of ground water samples are summarized on Table 2 The laboratory report(MAI
ILaboratory ID 46897-46900) and chain-of-custody forms are Included in Appendix B
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
