The borings will be advanced using Geoprobe direct push technology, and logged by an ATC geologist
under the supervision of a California registered geologist. Drilling equipment will be decontaminated
between borings. Following completion of borings and/or collection of grab groundwater samples, soil
borings will be backfilled using a Portland Type 11 cement/bentonite grout.
Soil samples will be field screened using an organic vapor meter equipped with a photoionization
detector(OVA-PID). The OVA will be calibrated in the field in conformance with the manufacturer's
specifications.
Grab Groundwater Sampling—One grab groundwater sample will be collected from each soil boring,
if encountered. A disposable bailer will be used to collect groundwater that accumulates in temporary
wells installed in the bore holes.
Investigation Derived Waste (ID99 Management - Soil cuttings (if generated) and decontamination
fluids will be contained in Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved drums. Groundwater, if
generated, will also be contained in DOT-approved drums. The IDW will be stored at an on-site
location determined by site personnel. The drums will be labeled with a description of contents and
accumulation start date.
Sample Analysis -- Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH-D, BTEX, and MTBE.
Groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH-D, BTEX, and MTBE. Groundwater and soil samples
collected at the site will be analyzed on site by Mobile Chem Labs (MCL), a State certified laboratory
located in Lafayette, California.
Additional soil samples will be collected from the soil cuttings (if generated) for characterization of the
IDW and evaluation of disposal options. The analyses are anticipated to include TPH-D, BTEX, and
MTBE. These analyses will be performed by MCL.
Sample Handling- The soil and groundwater samples will be labeled and given directly to the on-site
laboratory for analysis. All chemical analyses will be performed on site during the soil boring
investigation.
Decontamination and Site Restoration - Drilling and sampling equipment will be decontaminated
between borings. Drilling equipment will be steam cleaned; sampling equipment will be washed with
a solution of Alconox soap and triple rinsed, with the final rinse consisting of de-ionized water. Soil
borings will be grouted with Portland Type H cement grout at the conclusion of sample collection.
Data Management
ATC will perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks on the analytical data. This will
include reviewing the results of QA/QC samples submitted for analyses, and QA/QC checks
performed by the analytical laboratory. Data qualifiers will be added to the analytical data where
necessary.
ATC Associates Inc. 3 75.61059.0029
