PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> Installation of the additional Monitoring Wells (MW-2, MW-3 and MW-4) was conducted <br /> under a previously obtained permit and with approval of Harlin Knoll, inspector for PHS/EHD <br /> The proposed well boring location areas were marked In white paint and Underground Services <br /> Alert was notified at least 48 hours prior to drilling activities <br />' 4.2 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br /> Three well borings were advanced on January, 3rd and 4t`, 2002 in the vicinity of an existing non- <br /> operating UST at the subject site (see Plate 1) The soil borings were advanced using a truck- <br /> mounted drill ng equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow stem augers Soil samples were <br />' collected at 5-foot intervals beginning at 5 feet for logging purposes and potential chemical <br /> analysis The borings were advanced to an approximate depth of 50 feet bgs No petroleum-like <br /> odors were noted during the installation, logging and soil sample collection while installing the <br /> three new wells Groundwater was encountered in the borings at approximate depths ranging from <br /> 35 to 38 feet bgs <br />' The borings were drilled,logged, and sampled according to the protocol described in Appendix B <br /> _ Two-inch diameter monitoring wells were constructed in the borings, as generally described in <br /> Appendix B, Section B-3 1 The monitoring wells were screened at approximate depths ranging <br /> from 29 to 49 feet bgs The wells were constructed using Schedule 40 PVC pipe with 0 020-inch <br /> factory cut slots Copies of the boring logs and well construction details are illustrated in <br /> Appendix A <br />' Five 5 soil samples were collected from the three well bone s at depths rangingfrom 25 to 41 <br /> ( ) P g eP <br /> feet bgs Chemical analysis was subsequently conducted on four of the soil samples One soil <br />' sample was analyzed from each well boring MW-2 and MW-3, collected at depths of 31 and 35 <br /> feet bgs, respectively Two soil samples were analyzed at depths of 30 and 41 feet bgs from well <br />' boring MW-4 <br /> Soil cuttings and decontamination water generated during drilling activities were placed in 55- <br /> gallon drums and left on site pending chemical analysis and disposal by the client <br /> 20-1417-16 E04/ST02RO38 Page 7 of 18 <br /> ©2002 Kleâ–ºnfelder,Inc June 7,2002 <br /> 1 <br />
