' REQUEST FOR SITE CLOSURE
General Mdls Facd,ty ,
2000 West Turner Road
Lod: Caidorrna
Delta Project No 40-92-708
Page 2
15 feet below the ground surface Next, Water Work of Escalon, California, collected a total of nine
soil samples from the floor of the tank basin and submitted them to a certified laboratory for analyses of
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), and high boiling point hydrocaroons (TPH as diesel
No 6) Benzene was not detected in these soil samples, however, concentrations of TPH as diesel No 6
' ranged from not detected to 820 parts per million (ppm) The approximate soil sample locations are
presented in Figure 1 and the laboratory analyses results are presented in Table 1
2.4 Subsurface Investigation, May 1992
On May 12, 1992, three soil borings were advanced to 50 teet below the surface and completed as ground
' water monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 The locations of the ground water monitoring wells
are shown in Figure 4
Soil samples were collected at 5-foot intervals from borings MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 Soil types
encountered beneath the site consisted predominantly of poorly graded sand with gravel, clay, and silt,
well graded sand with silt, and sandy Iean clay Field screening of the soil samples was thorough and
' included both visual inspections and analyses for the presence of organic vapors with an hNu
photoionization detector (PID) Staining indicative of fuel contaminated sods was not present to the soil
' samples inspected. Organic vapors in the soil samples were not detected with the PID
' The soil samples collected from 35 feet beneath the surface in borings MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 were
submitted to a cemfied laboratory for analyses of BTEX and TPH as diesel No 6. BTEX or TPH as
' diesel No 6 were not detected in the soil samples The soil sample results are presented in Table 2 The
results of Delta's subsurface investigation are presented in a report dated June 9, 1992
2.5 Ouarterly Ground Water Monitoring. Miny 1992 through March 1993
' Ground water monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 have been monitored and sampled four times
since installation in May 1992 The ground water table has been measured at the site between
' approximately 39 and 42 feet beneath the surface. Ground water table measurements recorded to date
are compiled in Table 3 Ground water table measurements collected on March 23, 1993, were used to
RPT076 TA
1
