(Delta), has been authorized by General Mills Incorporated
(General Mills) to conduct a hydrogeologic investigation and assessment of the tormer underground fuel
oil tank location at the General bills facility located at 2000 West Turner Roaa, Lodi, San Joaqum
County, Califortua_ The location of the site is shown m Figure I and site features are shown in Figure ?
The purpose of this report is to obtain regulatory site closure. It is our opinion that site closure is
warranted at this time, based on the fact that petroleum hydrocarbons are not present in ;round water and
the fact that soil containing diesel oil #6 is limited to a small volume directly beneath the former
underground storage tank location. This report is bung submitted to the Tecnrucal Advisory Committee
for review and concurrence that site closure is appropriate
2.0 SITE BACKGROrTND INFORMATION
2.1 Site Descri]Rdon
The project site is located at the southwest corner of Turner Road and ,Mills Avenue Tae Mokelumne
River is located approximately 112 mile north of the site
2.2 Underground Storage Tank Removal. 1970s
In 1947 or 1948, two 5,000 gallon underground fuel oil tanks were installed at the Iocation shown in
Figures 2 and 3 The tanks were removed in 1973 and replaced with larger tanks. Apparently, in the
wake of the 1972 oil embargo, General Mills decided a Iarger supply of fuel oil was necessary in the
event of future fuel shortages. According to the General Mills engineer m charge of the tank replacement
project, oil-stained soli was observed. However, no puddles of oil were present.
2.3 Underground Storage Tank Removal Work October 1991
Three 12,000-Tallon underground storage tanks containing No 6 heating oil were removed during the
period of October 11-17, 1991 After removing the tanks, soil was excavated to a depth of approxunately
RF M6 TA
