This summary will
• also be forwarded to the Central valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board
This report covers 5 quarterly samplings - Third and fourth
quarters of 1992 , and the first , second , and third quarters of
1993
Proiect History
A 550 gallon underground gasoline tank was removed from the site
in November , 1988 Soil samples collected from the tank pit
indicated the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons . Excavation of
hydrocarbon bearing soil was initiated to a depth of 18 . 5 feet
below grade at which depth groundwater was encountered. Findings
of the tank removal and excavation have been presented in
previous reports
Following the initial excavation, 15 soil borings were drilled,
between May 15 and .Tune 2 , 1989 Laboratory results of soil
analyses determined the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in
concentrations exceeding 100 mg/kg in the area surrounding the
tank excavation After completion , 10 of the borings were
converted to groundwater monitoring wells (Figure 2 ) . Initial
sampling of the wells indicated the presence of benzene in
concentrations above the DHS Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL 's)
for drinking water in three of the wells
\1 If-C)RI,[A ')121" 200 ,10 1311 •FAX '09-330-1348
