J Hunter, RG, arrived on site at 0800 hours
and marked locations for wells while waiting on drilling rig
Due to unforeseen delays on other Sobs, the drilling contractor
was unable to mobilize equipment, and the operation was aborted,
it was rescheduled for July 11, 1995 .
DETAILS OF WORK PERFORMED UNDER WJH WORKPLAN ADDENDUM
• On July 11, 1995, Mitchell Drilling Environmental mobilized a CME
auger rig & support truck on location, driller was Bart Jurgins,
and helper was Chris Northard After reviewing the workplan and
holding a short safety meeting with Wm Hunter, the geologist in
charge, the rig was spotted on the previously marked location for
MW-1, as shown on PLATE VI Sufficient 5 foot lengths of clean,
8 1/4" OD auger flights were available to complete one well
before decontaminating flights Two, 18" long, California
Modiified split-spoon samplers were provided; they had been
thoroughly decontaminated prior to bringing on location. Each
barrel was filled with clean, 211 x 6" metal tubes ; all equipment
was cleaned after each use by washing with a TSP/water solution,
and rinsed with clean water.
Drilling began at 0915 hours, surface sediments consisted of dark
brown to black clay loam At a depth of 51 , the blanking plug
was removed, and a core barrel filled with clean metal tubes was
lowered into the flights It was driven from 5 ' to 616" using a
conventional drive hammer, blow counts and core recovery are
detailed on PLATE VII
After retrieving the core barrel from the auger flights, the core
head was removed, and the sampling chamber was laid on a clean
surface The geologist carefully opened the barrel, and removed
the metal sleeves and placed them on the work area.
