The rig equipment and augers were steam cleaned before and after the drilling of each
borehole Sampling equipment was washed xNith a solution of TSP and rinsed in clean
water between each sampling interval
SOIL SAMPLE PRESERVATION
The soil samples were preserved by covering the brass sample sleeve ends with a teflon
liner and then sealing the teflon covered ends with plastic caps Each sleeve was labeled
with the site name, date, time, sample location, and analyses to be performed Each
labeled soil sample was placed in a separate zip lock bag, deposited in an ice chest, and
cooled to 4°C The samples and accompanying cliain-of-custody documentation were
deliver ed to Kiff Analytical Laboratories {DHS 92236) on June 15, 2001
SELECTION AND CERTIFIED LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES
The three soil samples collected from MW4 at 10, 15, and 20 feet bgs were analyzed by
Kiff Analytical Laboratories for concentrations of TPH-G BTEX and MTBE using, EPA
method 8260B
RESULTS OF CERTIFIED LABORATORY ANALYSES OF SOIL SAMPLES
The results of the certified analyses of soil samples collected on June 12, 2001 are shown
. in Table 2 Copies of the laboratory reports are included as Appendix C of this report
TPH-G concentrations were 7,000 nig/kg, 2,400 mg/kg, and 93 mg/kg at the 10, 15 and
20 foot depth intervals respectively MTBE was not detected any of the three samples
DISPOSITION OF SOIL CUTTINGS AND WASTE WATER
The didling of MW4 generated approximately one cubic yard of soil cuttings The soil
cuttings were stockpiled on-site with a covering and base of 6-m►1 polyethylene sheeting
A WEGE geologist collected one composite soil samples from four locations within the
soil pile on June 19, 2001 The soil sample was labeled and preserved as described
above The composite sample was analyzed by Kiff for concentrations of TPH-G, BTEX
and MTBE using EPA method 8260B and lead using EPA method 6010 The analytical
results will be used to profile the soil for disposal at an appropijate landfill facility
Rinse water from the washing of the augers and sampling equipment was stored on-site in
labeled 17H 55 gallon DOT approved drums The rinse water will be transported to the
M P Environmental recycling facility under a non-hazardous waste manifest along with
the wastewater generated by quarterly groundwater monitoring following the next
quarterly monitoring round
4 Ai c Pump QM 4-6, 2001
