Since that time the property owners have installed six monitoring wells at the site and have
monitored the groundwater contaminant plume. The groundwater monitoring wells have shown
groundwater at the site to exist between approximately 12 feet to 16 feet below ground surface. Since
the removal of the bulk of the impacted soil (the source) the nominal levels of contamination in the
groundwater have been steadily declining.
The property owners have maintained active compliance with this agency in the past and, as the
project is in final stages towards a regulatory closure, PHS/EHD does not anticipate this situation to
change. In addition, the property owners are eligible to apply for reimbursement from the State of
California State Water Resources Control Board Cleanup Fund Program. This program offers tank
owners relief from cleanup costs by providing reimbursements up to $995,000 for work completed at
these sites.
Presently, PHS/EHD anticipates reviewing graphic presentations of groundwater data over time (from
previous groundwater monitoring events) to evaluate the need for the collection of additional data at
the site or if a regulatory closure is warranted at this time. In any event, this site is in the final phase
of regulatory oversight, with a formal closure expected sometime in the near future, pending the
presentation of supporting data.
It is hoped this letter will be of help to you. If you need anything further or wish to discuss this letter in
more detail, please contact Linda Turkatte, Senior RENS, at (209) 468-3441.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Linda A.
