Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study Addendum Letter Irerracon
Proposed Global Carrier Inc. ■ Manteca, California
July 24, 2019 ■ Terracon Project No. NA187034
The existing residence, orchard, and groundwaterwell are proposed to be abandoned or removed
prior to development of the future trucking facility. The location of a new groundwater well was
not included on the site plan.
Based on interviews with Mr. Vieira, the office will be open from 8 am to 5 pm five days per week.
The truck parking area will be open 24 hours per day year round as needed. Three office
employees, five shop/warehouse employees and 24 visitors/truckers will be using the facility daily.
Table 1.
Typical Quantity of Effluent.
Average
Total Quantity of Average days Maximum Daily
Category People per Effluent per of use per Average Daily Flow(gpd)
Day Person year Flow Rate(gpd)
(gallons)
Office
Permanent 3 `30 260 3 people x 30 gal= (3 people x 30 gal x 260 days)1
90 365 days per year=64.1
Employees
Tire&Brake
Shop 5 '15 260 5 people x 15 gal= (5 people x 15 gal x 260 days)/
Permanent 75 365 days per year=53.4
Employees
Visitors 24 -5 365 24 people x 5 gal= (24 people x 5 gal x 365 days)/
120 365 days per year=120.0
Total(Qpd) 285 237.50
Note:gpd is gallons per day. Value cited from the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater Treatment Standards(2017)Table 6.6
The maximum daily wastewater flow rate for the proposed facility is anticipated to be
approximately 285 gallons per day. As the facility will primarily operate on a five day work week
schedule, the long term average daily wastewater flow rate of 237.50 gallons per day was used
to calculate the nitrate loading for the facility.
The revised nitrate mass balance calculation is 8.1 mg/L-N below the MCL of 10 mg/L-N. Refer
to the attachments for a copy of the revised nitrate loading calculation.
Conclusions and Recommendations
In general, the parcel appears suitable for the development of the future trucking facility for use
with a standard septic system. Maximum daily flow rates are not expected to exceed 285.0
gallons per day. Based on Section 4.1.12 of the San Joaquin County Onsite Wastewater
Treatment Systems Standards (OWTS), the facility shall be equipped with a minimum 1,485
gallon septic tank (1,200 gallon base tank capacity + 285 gallon max daily flow).
The revised nitrate loading calculation of 8.1 mg/L-N is below the MCL of 10 mg/L-N.
Responsive■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 3
