Item No .
PC : 8-20-87
TA-86-2
Page 2
Based on the subcommittee ' s research and discussion, they agreed
to recommend two substantial changes in current fence regula-
tions . In the RR and RA zones , an open fence up to six feet
would be permitted at the front property line . It should also be
noted that the front yard setback has recently been reduced from
50 feet to 30 feet , which permits solid fences 20 feet closer to
the road than previously allowed in the RR zone . The second
major revision would allow any type fence up to six feet in
height to within 10 feet of the property line in all remaining
residential zones .
A "special fence" application is proposed in order to review fen-
ces proposed to be built at the property line . This would be a
$25 over-the-counter Plot Plan application. This review would
verify that the fence materials qualified as "open" and that
entry drives or gates were recessed. Both these aspects need a
case-by-case review to ensure that visibility for cars entering
and exiting the street will be maintained. This review will also
verify that the fence will not encroach into any road right-of-way.
