(Wright) is pleased to present this report for the limited
environmental investigation at the Tracy Municipal Airport (Airport) located at 29633 Tracy
Boulevard, Tracy, CA (see Figure 1). The purpose of this work is to evaluate current subsurface
soil conditions of petroleum contaminants in soil previously identified in 1998 during the
removal of two underground storage tanks (UST), aviation fuel dispensers and pipelines as
required by the San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department (EHD) in their letter
dated October 17, 2007.
1.0 Background and Technical Approach
The Airport used two UST's, (one 10,000/gallon aviation gasoline; one 10,000/gallon Jet A)
until their removal from the site on December 14, 1998. Soil excavated from the UST pit, fuel
line trench and dispenser island area was stockpiled on-site and soil samples were collected. The
data suggested that leakage has occurred from fuel line and dispenser island areas into soil. A
water sample was not collected from the tank pit. Approximately 200 yards of soil was
excavated during UST excavation, fuel line removal and dispenser removal at the fuel island
area. Soil was placed beside each respective excavation area and therefore was allowed to aerate
prior to being placed in a common stockpile where it was then sampled to determine suitability
for reuse as backfill. The soil was then apparently returned to the excavations by the UST
removal contractor at the direction of City Staff.
