Assessment (Work Plan) dated
December 10, 2007, submitted.on your behalf by Wright Environmental Services, Inc. (Wright)
and has the following comments.
In 1998 two underground storage tanks (UST) were removed from the above referenced site.
Analytical results from soil samples collected at the, bottom of the UST excavation were reported
`non-detect' for petroleum hydrocarbon constituents, but one piping line sample and several soil
stockpile samples contained reportable contamination, and the soil stockpile was subsequently
returned to the UST excavation. The purpose of-this work plan is to confirm the detected
contamination clear the piping lines and former UST area:
Wright proposes to first conduct a geophysical survey to verify the location of the buried piping
lines, former tank, pit excavation and existing septic system. The site investigation will consist of
advancing six Geoprobe direct push soil"borings to collect soil and possibly grab groundwater
samples for analysis. One soil boring will be located in the former UST area. This boring will be
advanced to approximately 9 feet below surface grade (bsg).. If groundwater is encountered in
this borehole a grab sample will be collected for chemical analysis. Five soil borings will be
advanced at 10-foot intervals along the former product'line. These borings will be advanced to
3 feet bsg; one soil sample will be collected from each boring for chemical analysis.
The EHD approves the scope of work-outlined in the Work Plan with the condition that at least
one grab groundwater sample is collected in-the area of known soil contamination at this time
and submitted for chemical analysis, and that ethylene dibromide is added to the analytical
suite.
