SUMIDEN WIRE PRODUCTS CORPORATION JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: PICKLING/WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPERATOR EXEMPT: No SALARY LEVEL: HOURLY SHIFT: AS ASSIGNED LOCATION: STOCKTON EMPLOYEE: REPORTS TO: SHIFT SUPERVISOR PREPARED BY: WAYNE MANNOR DATE: 6-12-96 APPROVED BY: WILLIAM PALMER REVISED: by wm DATE: 8-7-06 SUMMARY Sets up, operates and controls the Pickling and Coating of High Carbon Steel Rod coils by removing the heat scale, rust, dirt etc. from raw materials, rinsing in fresh water baths and coating in a rust inhibitor bath of select coatings such as lime, borax, zinc phosphate etc. Operates a clarifier and filter press when necessary in wastewater balance area and installs empty or removes full, ferrous sulfate super sacks from an Acid Recovery System. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SAFETY - QUALITY - COST - DELIVERY Turns valve to add acid to processing tank and adds inhibitor into tank to obtain baths of specified acid and inhibitor concentrations. Uses overhead bridge crane and moves raw material coils through the line, to Pickle and Rinse in preparation for coating operation. Examines surface of coil to verify the complete removal of all heat scale, rust, dirt etc. Opens Fiber drums and adds coating materials to coating bath using scoops and/or shovel to specified concentrations for proper coating per company specifications. Uses overhead bridge crane and moves pickled coil through the coating tank, and deposits the finished coated coil on the floor area, where the Pickling Operator will then transport the pickled, coated coil to the Drawing Department as designated by published work orders. Test solution concentrations in acid bath and coating bath for concentrations of pH, Fe, Points of coating, % of acid, inhibitors and makes adjustments to ensure conformance to all company specifications
