F -
FF
F diameter, flush threaded, Schedule 40 PVC blank casing from the ground surface to
23 feet below grade and 0.020-inch slotted casinE from 23 to 25 feet bgs. The annular
space through the screened interval will be filled with clean uniform sand to a
F_ depth of 22 feet bgs. A two-foot thick hydrated bentonite seal will be placed above the
t= sandpack, and the annular space above the seal will be filled with grout. The top of
the well casings will be capped above grade and locked with an expansion plug, and
a traffic rated road box. The dimensions of well construction as described above are
approximate and may vary according to conditions encountered in the field.
Due to the fact that the extent of hydrocarbons in the soil has been sufficiently
delineated the borings for these hese wells will not be exploratory. Soil samples will not
be collected or analyzed.
All downhole drilling equipment will be steam cleaned between boreholes and the
rinseate will be stored on site in labeled 55 Fallon drums. Soil generated from
drilling activities will be stockpiled on site. Mnseate and stockpiled soil will be
removed from the site by a licensed waste hauler for disposal.
F
5.4 PILOT TESTING
5.1 Groundwater Pumping Test
1
Clearwater will perforin a groundwater pumping test in the week following the
installation of the extraction well. The purpose of the test will be the determination j
of the physical characteristics of the shallow ater bearing zone beneath the site.
Evaluation of data collected during the test will enable the calculation of hydraulic.
conductivity, transmissivity, and other applicab e aquifer parameters. Note that no
. separate phase hydrocarbons will be extracted dring the test.
I
The first portion of the test will consist of a "step-drawdown" test. This task
involves the extraction of groundwater from the test well at varying rates, with the
r purpose being the determination of the most appropriate extraction rate for the
i longer term pumping test. It is anticipated that this endeavor will take
I' approximately four hours, and should involve no more than four or five "steps".
F
The first step will use a groundwater extraction rate of 0.5 gallons per minute (gpm).
Water will be pumped at this rate until the water level in the extraction well
stabilizes, at which time the test will be taken tc the next step. It is anticipated that
r, the steps will progress in half gallon intervals, though field observations may
necessitate a modification to this plan. The test will continue until observations
-• indicate that an optimal pumping rate has been obtained. Ideally, this optimal rate
should result in a sustainable yield with approximately 10-15 feet of water
I
D-107/PILOT TEST WP 3
