The work was cY conducted to assess the_ conditions of soil and-
. : groundwater beneath'the former location:of underground fuel storage,tanks. ;
The work was performed in accordance with the project workplan approved by the
San Joaquin .County. Public Health Services/Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD), and included the following:_,
• drilling and logging.three soil borings '
collecting soils samples for fuel constituent analyses `
•
installing three`two-inch diameter monitorm •wells in the boxings .
• surveying monitoring wellhead elevations ,
•
developing -the monitoring' wells
. i
collecting groundwater samples for fuel constituent analyses
1.1 Site Description and Background
The project site is located. on the southerly outs ' is,of Ripon, :in-an agricultural and
residential area. The Stanislau°s River meanders in a generally southwesterly
direction just south of the site (Figure 1). Municipal water treatment ponds are
located approximately. 1,000 feet south and east of the site.
Two, 10,000 allon Minder round-.stora a .tanks' (UST's) were .removed on May 23;
g g g.
1990. The site currently has at least ,one above -ground fuel .tank. The site layout
including former UST locations is presented in figure 2. A review of available tank .
removal documentation indicated- that the tanks were used.td store regular gasoline
and diesel fuel. Soil samples collected from be eath the UST's during removal did
• .P
not contain total- petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), kerosene, or motor .
' oil, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene; and total ;xylenes '(BTEX) or tetra-ethyl lead
above respective method detection limits.' On sample contained total petroleum
P
hydrocarbons'as diesel (TPHd).at'a concentration of 9,800..parts per million. ,
