Lamrnersvilfe School District
July 16, 1990 2021899-7004
12
6.0 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
The upper 3 to 4 feet of soil beneath the site consists of gravelly sand used for the shoulder of
Hansen Road. beneath this layer, the soils underlying the subject site consist of interbedded layers of
tan, sandy clay, and brown, medium-grained sand. With the exception of sand encountered near the
water table at a depth of approximately 7 feet below grade in boring MW-6, none.of the soil la ers,~.
encountered in MW-6, MW-7;and MW-8 exhibited an y u, x
y petroleum hydrocarbon odors. A distribution of
the soils encountered in MW-6,MW-7,and MW-8 is presented in the driil logs in Appendix ll, and cross-
sections A-A'and 8-B'(Figure 4). The initial depth to groundwater encountered in MW-6,MW-7,and MW
8 during the drilling operation was 7 feet below ground Surface. Static groundwater levels measured in
MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8 on Jane 21, 1990, were 7.16 feet, 7.34 feet, and 7.42 feet, respectively, below
ground surface. Elevation surrey d to of the wells indicates groundwater is flowing in a northerly
My direction, with a hydraulic gradient of approximately 0,009 ft/ft (Figure 3).
7.0 RESULTS OF CHEMICAL ANALYSES
7.1 SOIL
1 able 5 lists the soil samples submitted for chemical analysis, the depths belDw grade at which
they were collected, and their corresponding PID readings.
TABLE 5
SOIL SAMPLES SUBMITTED FOR ANALYSIS
BORING SAMPL DEPTH feet
——LZ PID READING m
o MW-6 MVV-6A 7
1
MW-7 MW-7A g
d.. 1
MW-8
MW-8A
L' GROtJ=%ATER
TECHNOLOGY,I:\C..
