18 July 2013
AGE Project No. 12-2466
BORING ABANDONMENT
Soil borings were abandoned by backfilling with portland cement from the total depth to
surface grade.
FINDINGS
Encountered soils were generally consistent across the site with fine grained clays and silts
located from 5 to 20 feet bsg (Appendix C). Organic vapor was detected at low
concentrations in samples 135-10, B10-13.5, B10-18.5, B11-13.5 and B11-18.5, ranging
from 0.1 parts per million volume [ppmv] to 1 ppmv.
A total of twenty-five soil samples were collected and analyzed for the constituents listed
above. TPH-g was reported in the 10-foot soil sample collected from boring B9, located
near the southeastern most fuel dispenser, at a concentration of 4.6 milligrams per
kilograms (mg/kg). Low concentrations of VOCs were also reported in soil samples
collected from borings B2 and B9:
• Toluene was reported in the 10-foot soil sample collected from boring B2 (B2-10),
at a concentration of 0.010 mg/kg.
• Ethylbenzene was reported in the 10-foot soil sample collected from boring B9 (B9-
10) at a concentration of 0.010 mg/kg.
• Total xylenes were reported in the 10-foot soil samples collected from borings B2
and B9 at concentrations of 0.026 mg/kg and 0.05 mg/kg, respectively.
No additional analytes were reported above laboratory detection limits in the analyzed soil
samples. Analytical results of the soil samples are summarized in Table 1. The laboratory
report (CTEL Project No. CT214-1302071) and chain of custody forms are included as
Appendix D.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected from this investigation, AGE concludes:
• Soil sample analytical results indicate that low levels of TPH-g and/or VOC's were
reported at 10 feet bsg in borings B2 and B9, located in the area of the fuel
dispenser islands (Figure 2).
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
