O: Corrosion Control
Matcor Anodes
5. Position the bottom weight over the bore hole.
6. Lower the system into the bore hole while maintaining tension on the lowering rope.
7. When the bottom weight reaches the bottom of the bore hole, pull the support rope and lift the weight slightly off
the bottom. Tie off the weight before pumping the coke backfill. Any excess vent pipe may be cut off with a plastic
tube cutter.
8. Read the system instructions for installing the coke backfill (Page 2, Paragraph D).
9. Mix the coke breeze into a slurry with water. Pump the slurry into a separate, 1" - 2" PVC stinger pipe.
10. Pump the coke breeze slurry to a level at least 5' - 10' above the top of the continuous anode.
11. Pump the coke backfill in one, continuous step. Do not interrupt pumping until the pumping operation is
completed.
12. If the coke backfill is pumped through the system vent pipe, flush the vent pipe with clear water after all the backfill
is pumped into the hole. Allow the coke backfill to settle for a minimum of 12 hours before applying the slurry.
13. Do not pour dry concrete backfill into the hole. It must be pumped as a slurry.
14. Once the coke backfill is pumped, the system is ready for the electrical hookup.
15. Install an appropriate valve frame and cover. (See Numbered Document K-40 for non-traffic areas, K-41 or K-41.1
for traffic areas, or K-44 for incidental traffic areas.)
16. Every person who digs, bores, or drills a cathodic protection well, abandons or destroys such a well, or deepens or
re-perforates such a well, must file a report of completion of that well with the appropriate agency of the state of
California within 30 days from the date its construction, alteration, abandonment, or destruction. Use the report
forms furnished by that agency. Ensure the report contains the following information:
A. A description of the well site that is sufficiently exact to allow locating and identifying the well.
B. A detailed log of the well drilling.
C. A description of the type of construction.
D. The perforation details.
E. The method(s) used to seal off surface or contaminated waters.
F. The method(s) used to prevent the contaminated waters of one aquifer from mixing with the waters of another
aquifer.
G. The signature of the well driller.
Trr
34" Diameter i r= Optional Extra
Y//,iQ\\ Weight
\I11
1
Shipping Skid
Approximate Weight: 305 Pounds Without Backfill
Side View Front View
Figure 1
Shipping Container
0-13.5 Page 2 of 4 Rev. #04: 10-09-08
